Best ways to reach Ephesus

You can reach Ephesus ruins from two ways. First, you can get to this city through travelling by road from Izmir City that will take you an hour and through buses that operate there on a daily-hourly basis. The Ephesus city itself is 3 km from Selcuk. You could get transport from this city at any time. As you can see on Ephesus Location map, going back to Izmir is also easy.

Second, you can reach this city through Kusadasi. Lots of visitors visiting through the sea to Turkey so as to get to this place, first call at Kusadasi, a remarkable beach town on the coast of the Aegean, and there a major way takes you to the city of Ephesus.

Ancient Ephesus city ruins was developed on a stream bend, which was ultimately scoured into an occupied seaport near the Cayster River of Turkey previously known as Asia Minor on the western shore. In the length of the shore plain between Miletus and Smyrna, the place is approximately 6 miles from the sea of Aegean. In the fullness of time, Ephesus city divided in five different locations, each in a small place. St. John and St. Paul were well-known with the place which historians have considered the city the biggest among five.

Ephesus was divided into 5 different locations:

  • Ephesus Two: Area of Artemission
  • Ephesus Three: Base of Mt. Koressos and St. Paul Port
  • Ephesus Four: Northern Part of Ayasuluk
  • Ephesus Five: Selcuk Area

Due to its man-made seaport structure and river flow, the backwash flow lead to the silt up of the seaport. Afterwards, Eusebius accounts that the city honor Hadrian or Emperor for scouring and making the seaport easy to navigate. Once cleared, was in a placed which defensible a great harbour. Once you take a look at Ephesus maps you will see that this place nestled at the junction of 3 land ways with shipping path from north through the way made by the Chios Island and an entrance facing the Macedonia cities. Many earlier Ephesus Map versions shows this detail with site map.

The land ways which converged on the city take account of:

  • The Colossae and Laodicea track when travelling east
  • The way to Galatia and Sardis from Northeast
  • The Smyrna main road

    Testimonials & Reviews

I booked online with Ephesus Breeze as an alternative to the cruise ship sponsored excursions for a one day tour for myself and my two teenage sons. Booking was simple. We paid a small deposit via paypal, and then the balance in cash in US dollars at the end of the tour. The fee included all entrances.”
