Fantastic

we went there on a very hot summers day, but it was worth it, a very interesting site. it is a large site with many buildings, there is a Roman road still in the main city of Ephesus which leads to a beautiful building, which once was the librery. There are many relics around the area. take some food for the cats there are many there.

Ephesus Tour

We loved Ephesus! We did not love stopping at a gold retail outlet on the way out, or having the option of visiting a further site in the afternoon at an extra cost, or stopping at a souvenir shop. Travelling straight to Ephesus, having a leisurely few hours and then returning would've suited us very well.

Fantastic Tour!

My wife and I did a private Ephesus tour with a fantastic tour guide, Arzu. We pre arranged everything easily over email prior to our trip and pricing was very reasonable. Because we were staying in Istanbul, we flew to Izmir just for the Ephesus tour in one day. Arzu and a driver (in a very nice new van) picked us up straight from the airport no problem and returned us at the end. The drive to Ephesus was about 50 minutes but went by very quickly as Arzu was extremely knowledgeable and told us so much about the area during our drive. We saw the House of the Virgin Mary, Ephesus ruins, and the temple of artemis prior to stopping for an amazing family style lunch at a local rug/textile school. It was so awesome. I highly recommend bringing an umbrella during the summer because it is quite hot and no shade around Ephesus. Also, we had stopped to purchase a very nice bottle of olive oil, but be warned that the jerks at the Izmir airport wouldn't even let us check it and we had to throw it away :(. Anyways, amazing tour guide and experience!

Ephesus with aboutephesus.com

We arrived at Kusadasi port disembarking our ship Celebrity Silhouette at 11am in the morning, we were a group of nine and were quickly and efficiently met by Cem our guide. The tour of Ephesus was fascinating if extremely hot, we brought umbrellas with us to use as parasols and this was a life-saver. Cem was very knowledgeable and friendly and did not rush us or overload us with information. We visited the terraced houses as well as the amphitheatre and loved our air-conditioned mini bus. We managed to keep one step ahead of our fellow passengers on their cruise-ship booked excursion - more than twice the price and around 25 in the group. We had a good lunch outside and were shown how rugs were made. This was the only part of the tour that was a little uncomfortable as we definitely did not want to buy a turkish rug however beautiful and well made it was. Cem assured us that they did not expect to sell a rug to everyone but it certainly felt like a little bit of hard sell - just be prepared. On returning to the port Cem recommended a watch shop to one of our party, she was very pleased with her purchase. Would highly recommend About Ephesus tours and Cem.

Awesome Tour - Gonca is the best guide!

We were on a cruise and booked a tour of Ephesus for our group of 10. Gonca and Alp were right there to meet us when we got off the ship. Because we were disembarking with 3000 of our closest friends, she suggested that we first see Virgin Mary's house instead of Ephesus. Great call - we got there before the tour bus crowds. Ephesus tour was fantastic as well - very informative but not dry. I had some reservations about the stops at the carpet factory and leather factory, but both were very interesting and low pressure. The included lunch was a highlight of the trip. Gonca's personality really made it a great day.

Ephesus

We had a private guide for our Ephesus tour. We arrived at the port earlier than expected but our guide Cem was there to greet us. He was very knowledgeable and very courteous. It was a hot day and he made sure that we had water and would also offer to take pictures of my husband and I. After he gave us the info for a particular site, he would give us a few minutes alone if we wanted to look around more or take pictures. Cem also made us aware of where the next restrooms would be. Cem, our guide was very happy that we got there a little earlier, because it gave us a chance to beat the crowds. We were very pleased with the lunch provided as well. We would highly recommend this tour.

Knowledgeable guide, great value

We shopped around several companies but ultimately went with About Ephesus because the value was good. I liked that all the costs (entrance fees, parking fees) are already included in the price so there was nothing unexpected. We were able to also customize the attractions included in our trip but also, while we were touring, our guide and driver allowed us to stop at other attractions that were not previously included in our plan since we still had some time. As a tip, you really must see the Terrace houses. To me, they were the highlight of the tour. Also, you must be willing to walk over slippery and uneven surfaces under direct sunlight for a good few hours. Our guide, Arzu, was top notch. She was very knowledgeable of the area and is very patient and courteous. What was surprising is that we actually enjoyed the lunch that was included. It was in the garden of the carpet warehouse/store (we decided not to opt out of the carpet demo). Everything was fresh and delicious. After a hot day of touring, it was nice sit and enjoy the breeze in the garden. The carpet demo was quite educational. you can see the silkworms, the natural dyes they use, and the process of making it so overall, the carpet demo wasn't bad. They will obviously try hard to sell you later. :)

Turkish Delight!

After reading many positive reviews of aboutephesus.com tours, I booked our private, $80 USD/person tour, just a week before we arrived on the Disney Magic. Arzu was easy to find, and took us on a short walk to board our nice, air conditioned, 15 passenger Mercedes Van. We visited Mary's House, the Ancient Ephesus Ruins, a Weaving Center, the Ephesus Ceramics Center, and Artemis' Temple. Our family's favorite stop was, by far, the ruins of Ephesus. Arzu was so great with my two teenage sons, who started out sleepy and more interested in taking a nap, than learning anything. Arzu was able to bring Ephesus alive through her explanations and stories. She arranged for us to have a private audience with the Master Potter at the Ephesus Ceramics Center. He instructed my 13 year old in throwing a bowl, and allowed me to assist him in creating a ceremonial pouring vessel. At the end of our tour of the Ceramic's Center, there was a bit of awkwardness as we felt pressured to purchase expensive items from the showroom. Realizing that we were not willing to purchase these items, we were shown to a shop with less expensive items, though at checkout, we were approached one last time about purchasing the items that we had admired in the showroom. Our lunch was delicious, and was served at the farmhouse on the grounds of the weaving center. Upon arrival at the port, we were given gift bags, books about Turkey, and maps. This was a lovely touch, and the items are being enjoyed by our entire family! Turkey ended up being one of our favorite ports of call, and Arzu proved to be a great hostess of her country!

Testimonials & Reviews

I booked online with Ephesus Breeze as an alternative to the cruise ship sponsored excursions for a one day tour for myself and my two teenage sons. Booking was simple. We paid a small deposit via paypal, and then the balance in cash in US dollars at the end of the tour. The fee included all entrances.”
