Unforgettable

We booked our own excursion to Ephesus as part of our cruise holiday because it was far cheaper than the cruise line's excursion. It was so easy to book online in advance and a quick phone call to confirm our booking. There was no deposit to pay although we did need to pay in cash at the end of the tour. We were met at the port by our guide, Hulya. The transport for 6 of us was spacious, clean and comfortable and Hulya gave an interesting talk about Turkey on the way to Ephesus. Ephesus is absolutely fascinating and we felt lucky to have Hulya for our guide as she is clearly very knowledgeable, being a volunteer archaeologist at the site. We visited the Terrace Houses and Hulya introduced us to her tutor who discovered them. We had asked to visit the Ephesus Museum and Hulya talked us through the exhibits before allowing us time to look round on our own. We then enjoyed a lovelyTurkish lunch at the inevitable craft centre, although the explanation of how the carpets are made was actually very interesting. We didn't feel too pressured into buying anything but it was slightly unnerving when the salesman appeared to lock the door! All in all, a very memorable day for both adults and teenagers and highly recommended. Hulya even posted a parcel of guide books and gift bags to us in the UK because it had been forgotten on the day. This was a very nice touch and much appreciated.

Day Visit from Kusadasi cruise port

I highly recommend this tour and company. We were picked up promptly at our cruise terminal and greeted by the most wonderful guide I have ever had on an excursion of this nature. "Turk" and this tour was the highlight of our Mediterranean cruise. He was so knowledgeable and kind. We enjoyed him as much as we enjoyed seeing the ruins. My husband is a professor in the US and had many questions. I was very thankful for Turk's knowledge and patience! :) You would be a fool to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see what's left behind of such a beautiful city!

Great tour

Even with young children in tow this was a highly educational tour with a well informed archaeologist. We reached Ephesus at the right time of day to make the tour bearable in the heat. Artemis temple a little disappointing for one of the seven wonders of the world but as you can only go and see two of the seven anyway I can now tick it off my list!

What a beautiful city

We have just visited the ruins of the old city of Ephesus. What an experience we had. I can strongly recommend this. The guide tour was extremely entertaining.

Amazing

We spent about 4 hours here. WOW!!!! Absolutely fantastic! As a person who loves ruins of this type, I was in awe!!!! Well worth a visit. People complain that there is no shade - however, we managed to find some some under trees, besides pillars and loads in the library building! Every corner you turn there is more to see, whether it be the 'toilets' that were used, terraced houses or the amphitheatre which seats 25000 people!!! Amazing!!!

Ephesus All day tour

We visited Ephesus for one day from our cruise ship. "Turk" was our guide and he was very informative and proud to share his country with us. He made sure that we got to see all of the highlights including the terrace houses and the House of Mary and was patient with all of our questions. We had a wonderful organic, fresh lunch and really enjoyed our Turkish carpet factory visit. Everything was well organized and we were able to enjoy our small group tour instead of a big bus from the cruise line without the personal touches we received from Turk. It was also a great deal as well I would highly recommend! Thanks, Turk!!

Great place, loads of history, super for photos - damn hot and little shade!A 'must' if you visit the area. 11 & 15 year old both loves it on an 'interesting' level despite the heat. Highlight has to be the inscribed stone telling sailors where the brothel was mad how to get there!

Great value private tour

Arriving in a large cruise ship tends to mean that wherever you go you have rent-a-crowd with youA couple we know mentioned they had booked a private tour through Ounce travel and we joined them on itMet at the port by a well-presented and gracious guide (Filiz Capraz) we were whisked away from the massed ranks by a new Mercedes minibus and the 4 of us enjoyed a fascinating 4 hours seeing all of the Ephesus sites (including the terraced houses which were a highlight). We weren't rushed, were able to ask a million questions The tour which came in at E80pp included a lovely simple lunch and the inevitable carpet factory visitOverall this was great value, a small fraction of what would have been charged by the cruise company and is highly recommended

Testimonials & Reviews

Our Guide brought Ephesus to life for us & was extremely informative; we even had people listening to him & complimenting him on being a much better guide than theirs from other companies. He guided us expertly to be at the front of the queues & out of the heat as quickly as possible.”
