Ephesus - the place we hear of in Bible stories
stars 5 out of 5, Reviewed on

I never did pay much attention to the sermons and readings during mass days. However, if you remember St. Paul and his letters to the Ephesians - this is where these ancients lived! You can walk along the mosaic streets through this marvelous site and imagine the shops and cafes. It is a living museum in that if you take the time to sit, contemplate and imagine you can "feel" the spirit of the ancients right beside you. An excellent visit - get a good guide to point out the main sights and explain the history.

aboutephesus.com for the win!

There were so many offering Ephesus tours but we were very happy to have picked the right one. We were met promptly by Ali of aboutephesus.com at the Kusadasi Port where our cruise ship was docked. We booked the Temple of Artemis, House of Virgin Mary, St. John Basilica and Ancient City of Ephesus tour. Ali was very informative and accommodating. We learned a lot from him. We wanted to skip the ceramic factory tour and it was no problem with him. Lunch was also good. Thank you Ali for showing us how beautiful Ephesus is :)

We were collected from the airport at Izmir by our tour guide Arzu Altun for a private 1/2 day tour of Ephesus. She was very knowledgable and spoke excellent English. She made our tour of Ephesus very enjoyable with the knowledge that she shared with us. We really enjoyed talking to her about Turkish life in general. We were dropped back at our hotel in Izmir after the tour. A very professional guide and company. We would highly recommend Arzu and About Ephesus tours.

Ephesus Tour

A fantastic tour booked through https://ephesusbreeze.com. We were on a cruise ship and elected to book this private tour. It was cheaper and better than booking the cruise line on shore excursion. My wife and I were escorted by Hulya who was as knowledgeable as she was beautiful. We went to the house of Mary and the ruins of Ephesus. The tour included lunch and carpet making demonstration along with explanation and demonstration on how silk is obtained and the dying process of wool. We also visited a leather shop and were treated to a full on fashion show with beautiful models displaying men's and women's leather jackets. Great to have a private tour away from the normal full bus load of cruise ship passengers. Thoroughly recommended.

Good tour

We booked through About Ephesus and had an enjoyable tour. It was cheaper the the cruise ship and we got to see exactly what we wanted. The guide did not know English as well as I would like but we muddled through and read the signs. I would probably try someone else if we did it again.

About Ephesus day tour from Izmir

We were met by Arzu, our guide, at our hotel in Izmir punctually at 8 AM. The Mercedes Van was very comfortable. The driver was very experienced. So the drive was pleasant. We first went to the house of Mary, then to Ephesus. Arzu has excellent knowledge of the history of Ephesus and surrounding area, is always cheerful, and was ready to answer any questions we had. I and my wife are vegetarians and were treated to a very delicious lunch. Overall, we had an excellent time. Arzu, besides being a good guide, was an excellent companion.Ramesh and Mithilesh Chandra

Awesome tour!

This tour is a must if you are in Kusadasi. I was not sure if I was ready for a day of more ruins, but this tour was fantastic! Our guide Miguel, was amazing, and Epesus is a must see. We found private tours are an amazing way to see the sights when we're traveling. The value is far better than tours the cruise ships offer. There were 4 of us traveling together and we spent over 11 hours with our guide. A day to remember!

Good excursion to Ephesus

Stayed for 2 days in Izmir, decided to start a day in Ephesus. Have written off, and then phoned to this agency. They told everything in great detail, explained the route, agreed on the date and time of pick-up from the hotel, and on May 2 we went to Ephesus. Nobody took a prepayment, all the payment is in fact after the tour. At the appointed time from the hotel we took a six-seater Mercedes Vito with a guide. As for two people, there was enough space in the car and we were driving very comfortably. We had a full day tour to Ephesus. Visited Ephesus, Maiden of the Virgin Mary, the Temple of Artemis, carpet factory, ceramics, lunch. Everything is worth a visit, although I, as a non-lover of art, ceramics and carpets were deeply indifferent, all the more and there is no need for them. Well, you can look at it once. I really liked the guide. We had a Russian-speaking guide - Faride from Azerbaijan. She told me very interesting and rich, I learned a lot of information for myself. It is immediately obvious that the person is really experienced and well-read. During the excursions I didn’t hurry, it was time to take pictures and leisurely explore the antiquities. In general, everything was very good. By the time the whole tour took us about 7 hours after which we were taken back to the hotel and wished us a good rest. The cost of excursions also includes all entrance fees, water, gifts from the agency. In general, I recommend this agency to everyone, very smoothly and efficiently and at the same time inexpensive. And if you go to a group of people 5-6, the savings become obvious. Farida, if you read - Greetings from Natasha and Andrey from Kiev!

When the past seems concrait ..

Beautiful site, to do with a guide to understand the magic of the site, very large and above all very well maintained. The site was found under the mountains and to this day only a "small" party has been restored .... Plan 2 at 3 pm for the visit, can be long for the little ones especially if we add the time of course ..

Review of our Ephesus guided tour

I would like to highly recommend Ephesus Tours (About Ephesus Tours) an agency that we discovered through TripAdvisor due to their excellent ratings. We couldn't have been more delighted with our tour guide for the day, Gonca. She was a young energetic ambassador for Turkey. We were highly impressed with her in depth knowledge of Turkish history as well of all the sites that we saw while we were with her. The tour was very well organized, the large mini-van was very roomy and comfortable. It was a wonderful day that we will always remember.

Testimonials & Reviews

Our Guide brought Ephesus to life for us & was extremely informative; we even had people listening to him & complimenting him on being a much better guide than theirs from other companies. He guided us expertly to be at the front of the queues & out of the heat as quickly as possible.”
