Ephesus & House of Mary
Any visit to this part of Turkey should include a visit to Ephesus. This was my third visit and each time, I see more than I did the last time. Tour guides in Turkey are well educated and informed and all are easy to understand. This trip, I also visited the House of Mary, or maybe the House of Mary or could have been the House of Mary. It's important to note that the little house is a rock building built centuries after the mother of Jesus would have lived in the area. Never the less, it's a pleasant stop, plenty of devoted people lighting candles and posting prayers on the rock wall. There is a refreshment area, a few shops, a post office if you wish to mail a postcard. Ephesus is the real treat. It's easy to imagine Greeks and Romans walking the stone paths or sitting on the communal latrines. The Greeks and Romans are gone but Ephesus continues to surprise as new things are discovered and old ideas are changed. The Terrace Houses, a separate tour is worth a visit. Ephesus is built on stones, it should be noted that people who have trouble walking will find it challenging to walk around, especially in the Terrace Houses where there are many steps an active archeological dig. Do NOT wear flip flops or delicate sandals. I've visited Ephesus in both the Spring and Summer. It is HOT in the Summer and shade is not available so dress accordingly and carry plenty of water. For fun photos, bring a few kitty treats. Ephesus abounds with cats. The Turkish people are fairly tolerant, even kind, to cats. There is a group which neuters the cats when the funds are available. If you have concerns about the cats welfare, your guide can tell you how to contribute to the animal welfare group. My only gripe with the organized tours is the push to see the "last" stop on the tour, a cultural experience in their words, a rug sales visit in reality. If you have never seen Turkish rug making, by all means, go but the push to sell you a rug is overwhelming. On my last trip, I thanked my bus driver and tour guide, tipped them, skipped the rug show and made my way back to my ship.
Ephesus City Tours High Class
We booked a tour of the Ancient city of Ephesus with Ephesus Tours and what a great choice we made.We were picked up at the cruise ship terminal in Kusadasi at the time requested, by our guide Yesra who spoke very good English ,was very knowledgeable , attentive, and explained in detail everything we saw during our journey to and in the ancient city and was really a pleasure to be with. When we went to the house of the virgin Mary, Yesra explained all about what was there and let us explore it ourselves. We had a wonderful day and would highly recomend Ephesus Tours and especially our guide Yesra to anyone who want aperfest day to this ancient city
Ephesus Tours A+
We were on a cruise that stopped at Kussadassi Turkey and had booked a tour online. We were greeted on the pier by "Betty" and were taken by privat car to the upper gate of Ephesus. Betty explained local history and landmarks on the way to Ephesus as well as walked with us through Ephesus. She was so knowlegable and interesting. After Ephesus she took us to a rug "college" where we learned the weaving process and history, then had a typical turkish meal that was delicious! Then we were returned to the pier with time to spare. I can't say enough about "Betty" and Ephesus tours! It was a fabulous experience.
We have nothing but good things to say about our whole experience with About Ephesus Tours. Booking was a breeze with communication being fast and efficient. Our guide, Deniz was fabulous. He was waiting for us at our cruise terminal, explained the history of the area like an expert and was very friendly. He even bought us coffee and Turkish Delight! Our driver was wonderful and we felt safe the entire time. The van was a little big for the four of us but that was no big deal. The lunch that was provided was delicious and we appreciate that we were able to receive a vegetarian meal. Our rug demonstration was very interesting and informative. We will definitely be recommending their services to anyone we know going to Turkey.
Ephesus with Filiz Capraz from https://ephesusbreeze.com
Filiz Capraz from OSMAN TURISM https://ephesusbreeze.com gave three of us, included our 83 year old mom, an excellent tour of Ephesus from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Filiz, our guide, was waiting for us with a sign, at the dock of our cruise ship. She welcomed us and put us at ease with her excellent English. We had a professional driver and a new, comfortable, air-conditioned, Mercedes mini van all included in our tour package. We did not have to wait in the long lines and entrance fees were included, taken care of by Filiz. During the short drive from Kusadasi to Ephesus we reviewed the tour and were given a bag full of maps, mementos, booklet and a very nice bracelet. Our first stop was where Apostle John brought Virgin Mary to live out her last years. A very crowded place, but our guide helped us. We then toured Ephesus Ancient City, the Agora, the Terrace Houses (must see), Celsus Library, the Great Theatre..... Filiz was so knowledgeable and shared so much interesting information as we toured Ephesus. Included as part of our tour, a most delicious lunch of cabob's, bread, salads and more, were served al fresco. We paid (very reasonable) for our alcoholic beverages. Lunch was followed by a very interesting carpet weaving factory school presentation. We saw beautiful carpets, drank tea and there was no pressure to buy. We visited the temple of Artemis, once considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world and the matron goddess in Ephesus. Purchased a few post cards and Turkish delight boxes. I certainly would recommend Filiz Capraz Asman Turism https://ephesusbreeze.com tour company. We tipped Filiz and Hassan our driver, handsomely for we were so pleased with our perfect day in Ephesus.
We has a terrific day of touring Ephesus with "About Ephesus" and Ms Selda as our tour guide. We were promptly picked up from our ship in Kusadasi. We were very pleased both with the condition of the Van and the competence of the driver--we felt quite comfortable at all times. We were returned to the ship in a timely manner. We were extremely pleased with the Tour, and especially with Ms. Selda. She was a delightful Guide--very pleasant in nature, clear in her explanation of what we were seeing, knowledgeable, and as well, a delightful hostess for the delicious lunch that was provided for us. We would highly recommend your Comoany, and Ms selda as a guide for any tours offered by your company. We would be happy to have her again as our Guide, should we have the opportunity return to Turkey. Sincerely yours, Don and Marlene Hall
Amazing day at Ephesus
We had a very enjoyable half day tour in Sept arranged with https://ephesusbreeze.com.Our guide was Hulya. It was one of the highlights of our cruise. Hulya met us at the port with the driver as arranged. She was welcoming and spoke very good English. She was very organised and knowledgeable when we were looking round Ephesus. The Terraced Houses are a must and I am glad we paid extra to see these. The process when booking the tour was very good and efficient. Having a wonderful lunch included in the tour was great. We plan to return to Ephesus as there is so much to see and soak up.Tip- plan your tour for early morning to cope with the heat- we commenced tour at 8.30am
Great tour of Ephesus- not to be missed
We took our tour of 6 with Canan as our guide. Canan was very knowledgeable. Ephesus is not to be missed. I highly recommend Osman tour company and Canan both. They picked the 6 of us up right on time from our cruise ship. She also made sure we got back to the cruise ship on time. Canan is enthusiastic and her knowledge of Turkey seems endless. The van was very clean and air conditioned. The driver professional and very courteous. The stops were extensive for picture taking and we feel we must now make an entire holiday of Turkey. This was at first just a stop on our 12 day cruise. But as Canan was so happy to talk about modern Turkey we are now planning a trip just to Turkey and plan on using this tour company for parts of this trip. Beautiful places and tours were one of the nicest in an extensive tour of Europe.
Lovely tour of Ephesus!
We were greeted at our port and taken to Ephesus by a tour guide and a driver. The tour was educational, interesting and fun! Our tour guide and drive made us feel very welcome and safe while we were touring. We were never rushed and the guide shared with us so many details of history and current life in Turkey. Our lunch was incredible and we just had a fantastic day!
Sensational day out
Step back in time and really get the feeling of what it was like to live in an ancient Roman Village. Mainly ruins with no shade, plenty of walking on in level ground. But to see it you must walk the walk. Tour guides are a must to understand the importance of each structure. Plenty of photographic moments. No toilet facilities, no lift or escalators so tourist with disabilities may struggle getting around this site.Tourist shops and souvenirs available at the exit gates. This is a must see if you stop at Kusadasi and I highly recommend a day tour. Choose a day to visit when there are no cruise ships in port to avoid massive crowds with their own tour guides.
I would like to book,
Wondering what to see?
Celsus Library is one of the finest buildings in Ephesus. The two-story building contained over 12,000 hand-written books, making it one of the largest library collections of its time.
Testimonials & Reviews
“Eight of us on 12 night Mediterranean cruise arranged a tour through Ephesus Tours and were fortunate enough to be met at the cruise terminal by Gonca Kizilhan, a.k.a. Rosie, the most wonderful tour guide in all of Turkey! She was so knowledgeable, was able to answer any question asked of her and had the most pleasant personality.”
