Ephesus and Pamukkale
Did a two day tour -this was outstanding, there were several hundred people at Ephesus but don't think there will ever be a time when this site will be quiet. Well worth a visit. Went with Thomas Cook and stayed in a lovely hotel overnight then went on to Pamukkale, pictures and words do not do the place justice and well worth doing the two centre visit. All meals were included so at £98 each we found this excellent value for money.it cost £10 to swim in Cleopatras pool, but once again if you go all that way you would be foolish not to take the plunge, the water is crystal clear and soft and warm. I would recommend this tour.Mary M
Excellent Tour and Guide
We took the day tour of Ephesus with Selda through aboutephesus. It was an amazing tour and she is an excellent guide. The ruins are amazing and she really brings them to life. The terrace houses were a major hit with my family. The house of the Virgin Mary is very spiritually moving. This was money well spent. I highly recommend not missing this stop. If you have doubts ask for Selda as your guide she is excellent. Thanks again aboutephesus and Selda for a very memorable day.
Ancient city of Ephesus
This ancient city was part of a wonderful Globus tour of Greece/Turkey that we just completed.Walking through this marvelous city was such an awesome experience.. It's good to read and see pictures of ancient Roman cities but to see it in person is to make it real-the Romans acutally lived! They built fabulous and intricate cities including Bath houses and viaducts, and a stadium which is till used today by many famous entertainers. Now the only residents are many feral cats but they are tame and lovable and happy to spend their days on ancient rocks hoping for a "handout" from the many goggling tourist! If you go to Greece, don't miss Ephesus!
This was meant to be a highlight of our holiday but it was so busy that we didnt get to see much of it. The library is a fantastic sight and the ongiong work they re doing to uncover more of the site will no doubt be worth going to see in years to come however i would probably go in may or oct to get the most out of this sightseeng tour.
Excellent in all respects
This was our best day ever with a tour guide. Although these were the best ruins we have ever seen if was the knowledge of our tour guide that brought the whole day to life!! Rosie was a wonderful companion for the day and a walking encyclopedia. Her passion for the job she is doing and her country is evident. We enjoyed a fabulous lunch as part of this tour and watched a Turkish carpet demonstration without any of the heavy selling forced upon us. The best value for money we have come across.
My wife and i booked a private 4 hour tour of Ephesus thrrough Ephesus Tours. We had a guide and a driver. The guide, Ugur Yavuzturk was exceptionally good. He has studied in the United States and speaks English fluently. He walked through Ephesus Ancient City with us and explained ther history and historical significance of the various sights. His explanations were interesting and witty. Our trip included a visit to the Terrace Houses. These are located in the ancient city but require an additional entry fee. The fee is well worth it as these houses were the highlight of the tour. The Temple of Artemis is more or less a bunch of rocks on the ground, a big disappointment. I strongly advise you to prepare for the heat. The walk through the ancient city takes a few hours and there is little or no shade. We were there in early September when the temperature reached 90. If you are going in the summer take an umnbrella, water and sun tan lotion. Ugur was thankful that the summer had passed and temperatures were now under 100.Both the guide and tour company are highly recommended.
Get OFF the ship and take this tour
This past summer my friend and I went on an Azamara cruise and one of the stops was Kudashi, Turkey. Our excursion there was Ephesus. These are the most amazing ruins and the people that are giving the tours are remarkable. They know everything possible about this amazing attraction. They speak understandable English, too. Many people know this port as a "shopping meca." It is, but make sure you take your tour to Ephesus early and then do your shopping later. You will not regret it.
Booked my trip to Epheseus via Oracle Tours in Altinkum, everything was better than expected and the Guide was very knowledgeable and the trip was very enjoyable and the history of the place was out of this world
Superb Guide, Amazing Place!!!
Selda Akyigit (our guide) is the passport to the magical historic past of a amazingly beautiful place!!! Will recommend, hope to come again and bring kids!
If you are going to Ephesus or Cappadoccia from Istanbul try this agency
Ephesus and Cappadoccia are wonderful places to visit and the tour guides and cooperating agencies that Road Runner travel agency in Istanbul (Alemdar Caddesi No 2/B and ask for Osman - down from the Aya Sophia) set us up with were first class, kept great track of us and extremely knowledgeable in both Ephesus and Cappadoccia. In Cappadoccia it was Insider - ask forAsem for the North tour and Efe for the South tour. In Ephesus, it was Tamir with Crossroads agency. Ephesus and Cappadoccia were experiences that far exceeded what I read about them. The scale of Ephesus that has been unearthed to date is a shining marble city once on the coast line and now 7 miles inland which held 240,000 people in its prime. Cappadoccia is populated by caves, churches in caves and underground cities and was a major Christian area all the way up to the 11th century. Leave Istanbul for a day in Ephesus and 2 days in Cappadoccia and you won't regret it.
I would like to book,
Wondering what to see?
Celsus Library is one of the finest buildings in Ephesus. The two-story building contained over 12,000 hand-written books, making it one of the largest library collections of its time.

“We were on a 2-week cruise throughout the Mediterranean and thanks to reading reviews like this one, we decided to book a private tour through Ephesus Breeze. It turned out to be one of our best decisions on the trip and one that I would recommend without any reservation.”
