Highly Recommended Tour Guide for Ancient City Day tour
I wholeheartedly endorse Rosie Kizilhan of "About Ephesus" for your tour. We were a group of six adults who were escorted on a well maintained, safe and clean van for a day tour of Ancient Ephesus. Rosie greeted us to pick our group up from the cruise port exactly as expected. She was passionate, knowledgeable and had very good English. The cost of the tour was very reasonable. Because Rosie is so personable, it was more like being on a ride with a good friend. With her friendliness, we all felt comfortable enough about asking personal questions relating to culture and customs of Turkey which enriched the experience of our foreign travel. Above and beyond are the words that quickly come to mind when I fondly recall our time with Rosie. You will not be disappointed if you arrange a tour with her. Go to About Ephesus Tours and make the reservation requesting Rosie specifically.
Espectacular, Awesome and our tour guide Halil made it that great
We had a great private tour with a lot of fun, it was one of the best tour we did in this entire trip we made to 5 countries. Our tour guide Our Ephesus Tour Guide made it great, he had a lot of information, very smart guy that speak perfectly English Spanish and of course Turkish. He had a very good knowledge and he was able to explain us in details the history of the city of Ephesus. I t was very interesting and the ruins are very well kept. I really recommend this tour it was great.
A great private tour
We had a wonderful private tour of Ephesus (including terrace houses), the Mary Shrine, and the Artemus Temple. Our guide Gonca (pronounced GONE-ja, aka Rosie) was wonderful. She picked us up at the airport in the morning, escorted us around all day, and dropped us off at our hotel around 4:30 PM. Everything was very professional. This was a private tour booked for just my wife and myself. I priced out the cost of admission to all of the sites we visited, along with the cost of an airport transfer to Selcuk, transportation to the sites, and lunch, and the combined cost was only slightly less than the cost of the tour that included all of those things, plus the guide and driver. So it really was a great bargain. We only had one day in town so it was important to use our time efficiently. We couldn't have done this all or gotten as much out of the visit without the guide. Gonca was really sweet. You would be lucky to get her. Lunch was included in the tour. It was at the Turkmen Weaving Center. This is a school that teaches the traditional carpet making crafts to young women. The food was very good. The demonstration of how silk is produced was fascinating and it was amazing to see how the carpets are produced. Of course they took you into the showroom to sell you carpets too, but we just enjoyed the show and made it clear we weren't buying.
Beyond our expectations!!!!
Our professional guide was Selda Akyigit Tutkun. Her combination of education....English, German, Turkish history, and Mythology.....gave her the knowledge to explain the ruins of Ephesus with such clarity. She was superb!!! The country of Turkey requires college students to pass a final exam to qualify as a professional guide. The archeological ruins are so spectacular but her explanation helps to clarify the history and current uses of the ruins. Ephesus is the second largest outdoor museum in the world...Who knew? Now Pompeii is #1, but with the continual studying and digging at Ephesus someday, it may become the largest. Today, only 10% of the historical site has been excavated. Our transportation was a very comfortable mini-bus with a great driver.
Exceptional half-day tour of Ephesus led by Selda Akyigit Tutkun
My wife and I just completed a half-day Ephesus tour led by Selda Akyigit Tutkun. She's the best!. The tour certainly exceed our expectations. First of all, the tour lasted for much more than half of a day. And it ended only because we got tired, not because Selda wanted it to come to an end. We got much more than our money's worth. Selda's English was great, she was very enthsiastic, she was knowledgable, and she kept us moving along at just the right pace. And to top it all off, she came back to pick us up in her personal car, from our hotel that night, for some additional sightseeing. When it all came to an end, she would not accept any additional tip for her hard work and extra time.
Perfect tour in Ephesus with Arzu
The tour in Ephesus was the best part of our 5 days stay in Turkey. We arrived a day earlier than our confirmed tour date in Izmir but About Tourism did not hesitated to accommodate us and look for a new tour guide available that day. Our tour guide name is Arzu, she is one of the best tour guides we've met, she is very accommodating and knowledgeable with Ephesus and all the places we've visited. With perfect english, she was able to bring us back in time detailing each of the most important things/events in Ephesus, we had goosebumps just walking along the ruins of Ephesus. Lunch was great, I'm not a fan of salads but when I tasted the salad she prepared for us I cant help but finish everything in my plate. I will definitely recommend About Tourism especially Arzu to our friends and relatives who wished to visit Ephesus. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.
My older brother and I had the pleasure of having a private tour with Leyla. She was absolutely wonderful to listen to. Her English is great and she presents Ephesus in an interesting and accessible way. Afterwards, she took us to a delicious lunch place which was attached to a carpet co-op, where we saw weaving demonstrations of both silk and cotton Turkish carpets. The weavers were incredible. We also got to see how they spin silk there--using a traditional manual silk-spinner. It was a beautiful experience and we loved Leyla. Definitely one of our best days on our Turkey trip! Highly recommended!
Amazing Ephesus tour with Arzu on 21st April 2013
My wife and I would like to send out a big thank you to Arzu Altun and her company for making our day at Ephesus so memorable. Arzu's knowledge and passion for her country's history is really commendable . The minute detail she explained in perfect english of every temple , public forum/ site , house and street was simply amazing. Her commitment and enthusiasm to her job is simply 110% , and we cannot but recommend Arzu so highly for making our day at Ephesus just perfect. Our driver also warrants a mention for his punctuality and professionalism. The impeccable Mercedes van was very comfortable and we felt like we were in our living room chatting away with Arzu without really noticing we were on the road. A real dream of a tour and one we will never forget. Steve & Rita - Malta
Loved The Tour: Now what am I going to do with the rug?
This is a bit late in coming, but I would be remiss if I didn't let fellow travelers know about Ephesus Tours. I arranged a private tour for 12 of us from Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam. The communication prior to the tour was extensive and professional and because it was a private tour, we made a few changes from their standard full day package. The guide was friendly, professional and well spoken. She went out of her way to make sure everyone could keep up with her on a pretty walk intensive tour. The mini-bus was clean and comfortable. The tour itself was outstanding – one of the most interesting I’ve ever been involved with. The ruins of Ephesus should be on everyone’s bucket list. You can easily imagine that you’re walking among the ancient citizens of this once thriving center of culture and commerce. The terrace houses are a masterpiece of excavation and presentation, giving you a glimpse of household living thousands of years ago. The house of the Virgin Mary and the Basilica of Saint John was not only historically interesting but emotionally moving regardless of your faith. Our lunch was set in the outdoors of the Government Co-op and were served and excellent traditional meal that included appetizers, salad, meatballs and chicken and most of us order a beer or two.Perhaps the only reservation I would give, is to be prepared for a pretty hardcore sales pitch after the carpet demonstration. Although you are by no means obligated to buy, many including me parted ways with thousands of dollars for some very nice carpets. Mine is still in the closet, waiting for a proper display on the walls.
one day tour of Ephesus
In Oct 2012 we visited Ephesus with UgarHe showed us sites that were off the beaten path and gave us the true flavour of TurkeyThanks
I would like to book,
Wondering what to see?
The Terrace houses
The houses built on the terraces on the slopes of Mount Koressos were inhabited by the wealthy families of the city. The first houses are dated to the 1st century AD and they had been used with some renovations until the city was abandoned.
Testimonials & Reviews
“Our Guide brought Ephesus to life for us & was extremely informative; we even had people listening to him & complimenting him on being a much better guide than theirs from other companies. He guided us expertly to be at the front of the queues & out of the heat as quickly as possible.”
