Fantastic tour and great guide
stars 5 out of 5, Reviewed on

Our group of four had the pleasure of having Taylan Ugur show us Ephesus, the Terrace Houses, and The House of Virgin Mary. What a great tour. Taylan is fantastic and very friendly and did a great job being our guide. We saw some amazing places and it was highlight of the trip. We were picked up from the cruise ship port and they were early and waiting for us. Great company!

From my very first contact with this company, I knew my family and I were in great hands. We first drove to the House of the Virgin Mary and Alp (our tour driver) got us there before any other tour group. We had the entire site to ourselves! Next, we went to the ancient city of Ephesus and saw the Temple of Artemis, Terrace Houses, and the many other sites of this ancient city. Then, we visited a Turkish rug demonstration (which was fascinating to see the making of these beautiful rugs), had a wonderful Turkish lunch (which was by far one of my favorite meals), and visited a Turkish pottery store (we spent way too much money here but was totally worth it).Gonca our tour guide was unbelievable and very friendly! She provided background information for each tour site, explained the history behind each site, and the importance of the sites. We felt informed and better educated because of her knowledge and enthusiam for the history of her country. The guided tour of the Terrace Houses was well worth the extra money. The site was breathtaking and furthered my appreciation for architecture and art! Gonca even bought me birthday baklava since it was my birthday the day of the tour. We all celebrate and this was by far one of the most memorable birthdays for me. By the end of the day, we were all friends laughing together! The company delivered on all of their promises and so much more! I would definitely use this company again in the future and ask for Gonca!

Ephesus brought to life ! what a memorable tour !

Before booking the tour, as always we read through the Trip advisor reviews. From the moment we met our guide Professor ? ( his name now escapes me) we just knew we were in for a wonderful day. The "taxi" was a luxury mini coach with an excellent driver. Our host brought Ephesus to life, enabling both my wife and I to share in the whole experience of Ephesus. Words are inadequate to describe how we felt as we walked through history...you just have to go and live it deep within...a real emotional journey which we will never forget. Thank you dear Professor ! we hope to see you again in the not too distant future.Thank you Ephesus Tours, we will be in contact with you on our next visit in 2014.

Unforgettable experience!! 15th wedding annivesary day made awesome!

We were so impressed with this area and our guide Johnna (? spelling-- see pic). What an incredible day experiencing an amazing place. From the history, archaeology, and culture, we were blown away. So much better to have a "friend" to guide you within country than the impersonality of a big cruise group. Our guide was knowledgeable and kind, and we were even able to meet and spend time with a local archaeologist she knew that had been on site for last forty years. Local lunch in garden setting at cultural center was great. Would highly recommend this tour company and our guide. Thanks for such a special memory!

Fantastic, from the entrance, to the chamber of deputies, fountain, girls house, public toilets, library and theater for 25,000 people. Since 4, everything is good. There I met the goddess Nike. I thought I was wearing sneakers ... but

The tour started off well for group 20 purple on princess cruise 11.09.2013,with a well informed guide of the Virgin Mary's last resting place in the mountains, then onto the Roman ruins of Ephesus. After this ,the guide handed out the appraisal sheets on the bus. I rated it very good which most did, then the guide picked all the appraisal forms up, this is when the show started. We were told that an optional carpet making tour was included when we booked the tour. The tour guide proceeded to tell a story of how the tribesman come down from the mountains to sell these carpets. He then went on to tell about the great hospitality of the Turkish people and to refuse to go to the carpet show would have been a great insult to refuse, as there hospitality is so great that they would offer you their bed if asked. I have no doubt that this may have happened 200 years ago but not now.The carpet place which included a jewellery store just outside the port was just a slick front for Turkish generosity. We were all herded in, after 10 mins of carpet making then the big sales pitch that went for another half an hour. When we went to leave the main exit was blocked, so you had to leave through the jewellery store for one more attempted gouge. I was so angry at mine and everyone's good will been used against us by this tour guide. Sea song so long!!!

Ephesus is one of the mythical places that you absolutely must see. From Kusadasi, a 20-minute drive is necessary. Suffice to say that the doors of this lost city are really close and it would be a shame to miss.

We booked a tour at 17 September 2013 from Izmir port to Ephesus. Vip Ephesus Tour guide (Ceyla) welcomed us at the port on time. The car was very clean and luxury. Our guide kept us always in front of the crowd and very informative. She is an archaeologist and we learned a lot. The lunch we had was amazing. The experience was great for us. If you really want a five star service they are perfect!

We were a group of seven and booked online at the About Ephesus Tour. They were very professional from the beginning and we just paid on the day of the tour, as required through a telephone call. We asked for a guide that could speak Portuguese and they promptly got us one. So, if you need a guide for your tour able to speak Portuguese or even Spanish, then Miss Melahat is the right person. She's a fantastic person, with a great historical/cultural knowledge about the sites and she was very nice to us too.The minivan that took us was also new, with air conditioning and the driving was safe. We strongly advise everyone not to hesitate in contacting this Ephesus agency.

Excellent tour company :)

We used this company while cruising on the Serenade of the Seas. When we got off the ship in Kusadasi Gonca our guide was already waiting for us. She was warm and welcoming and we were off to a great start. Our driver was Alp, a very quiet man, very nice and a very very good driver.Gonca took us first to the House of the Virgin Mary were we (catholics) had one of the most sublime experiences of our lives!! Gonca had said around 30 mins there but we took 1hour+ there and she understood and was fine with it. She never rushed us nor gave us an attitude about it, she was more than happy to please us and let us stay longer. Her english was perfect and she knew a lot of history. After that we went to the old city of Ephesus and also to the Terrace Houses. Then we had requested to go to Sirince a very very nice small village nearby where we had a great time and a very yummy lunch. They took us to the port with plenty of time to catch our cruise and they - I must say- were the best guides we had in all our ports of call. We left with a very good impression of turkish people and their culture and we can't wait to be back to this wonderful country to explore more.I definitely recommend this company and I will use them again when I go back, because i def. will.

Wishing to avoid the high costs charged by a cruise line for a visit to the ancient sites of Ephesus and having read previous Trip Advisor reviews, we e-mailed Ephesus Tours to arrange a private tour.
