Travel thru time...and side food trip with delicious Midye
We use to travel with no guides, but when we heard about this highly recommended private Ephesus tour, and having only a day to spend, we gave it a shot. And man! we are not disappointed. Our guide Elcin Yilmaz was very professional and knowledgeable. She seems to know our personal needs, so knows where to bring us first where the views and the attractions are best to be seen in a particular time. And the best thing was, she even spent additional time to take us to a midye (mussels) food joint when where back to Izmir. We admire the beauty (House of Virgin Mary, Ephesus, Terrace Houses, Temple of Artemis) the way it should be admired, no pressure and take your time for learning and picture taking, not to mention a very traditional lunch. It is like we travel to a place we know someone, and showed us around.Go book for your trip now, and look for Elcin! The cool guide.
Ephesus ruins
We had a private tour with Ephesus tours of the ruins of ancient Ephesus, four people and our guide and driver. It was informative, included the Terrace Houses that the other tours did not do, and all at a much lower price than the cruise ship without all the people and crowded buses.
Dynamite Tour! Filiz is a wonderful guide!
Our cruise docked early, but our guide, Filiz Kizilhan, was there waiting for us. Filiz was knowledgeable about the sites and--more important--excited about her country. She obviously enjoyed telling us about life in Turkey as well as the things she was showing us. We requested a change in the itinerary in the middle of the tour--no problem. I would recommend this agency and this guide to anyone who wants to see this area. Incidentally, the price of our private tour was less than the "excursion" rate quoted by our ship for what turned out to be a cattle car experience according to people who went on the ship's trip.
The Best Ruins I have ever seen
I recently visited the town of Ephesus. It is by far the best historical ruins I have ever seen. You could really imagine the entire town as a lively thriving community. it was the first example of an entire community intact of all the ruins and historical cities I have visited.. It was truly amazing and should not be missed. I would pick Ephesus over the Arcropolis or Athens as the best place to visit and even over Rome historical sites as well. The entire town is pretty much intact and you can actually see a lifestyle of a very highly intelligent community.
Fantastic Tour Guide and Company
About Ephesus Tours (info@About Ephesus Tours) arranged a fantastic and unforgettable tour in Ephesus for us. They booked the flight to and from Istanbul and arranged to pick us up in a spacious, black Mercedes. Our driver and tour guide (Gonca) were very knowledgeable and were able to customize our tour at our request to include a visit to a local village wine shop and fruit market. Filiz was sweet, kind and patient, majored in history in school and was able to give us additional information about the historical ruins we visited that you could not find online or in a tourist guide book. Our driver drove very safely. We had our best meal in Turkey during lunch at a local carpet factory, the home cooked chicken kebab was delicious and the vegetables and cheese were very fresh. Our schedule1. Virgin Mary's house2. Ephesus ruins3. Temple of Artemis (one pillar remaining)4. Lunch (at a carpet factory)5. Visit to village and wine shop6. Visit to handicraft factory7. Visit to fruit market (to buy oranges)I cannot emphasize how fantastic this tour company is. Very professional, their communication over email is prompt and the their English is excellent.I tipped $25 USD
Reserve this tour, You'll thank me when you get back!
Fantastic, Professional, Informative, Prompt, Friendly, Great price, What more can you ask for?? Thank you Gonka Kizilhan for an amazing day tour of Ancient Ephesus! We will be back!
Awesome! A perfect day in Turkey
Our ship was in port for one day, so we pre-arranged a full day tour with Filiz Kizilhan, professional tour guide with Osman Tourism. Filiz & a driver picked us up promptly when the ship docked. We drove to the Ancient Ephesus area. We visited the chapel on the mountain, and then drove to the area where you enter the ancient city of Ephesus. As you walk thru the city, you can really imagine what it must have looked like 2000 years ago! Many of the buildings & monuments are still standing. Amazing! This was a grand city. Spend the extra money to enter the terrace house! Be sure to go all the way to the top of the steps in the house. Our guide, Gonca, was extremely informative & patient with our questions. After the visit to the ancient city, we ate lunch a turkish rug factory. We saw the collection of silk from the worms, the making of the rugs, etc. A perfect day in Turkey!
Our tour guide Emeri was a well informed and well spoken tour guide.
We were met at the port of Ephesus and toured through the Kusadasi area of Turkey. Emeri spoke very good english as he taught us the history and many interesting facts. we were taken to a rug making factory that also teaches the craft to local women to keep the art going. We bought a couple rugs! Our lunch was at a wonderful little cafe near the rug factory andit was exceptional. We hop to visit the region again and we will definitly look for Emeri when we return.
About Ephesus tours
Visited Ephesus in a group of 6 in February 2011 using About Ephesus Tours. Our guide was Filiz Kizilhan. We had a great time. The tour of Ephesus was well organized. The choice of restaurant was excellent. And more importantly, the information shared by the guide Filiz was thorough and entertaining as well. Everything was done in an atmosphere of good humour. A great time and an excellent value for the cost.

The Ephesus and St. Mary's House Day Trip from Izmir was a marvelous and memorable one. My friend and I were picked up at our hotel in Izmir right on time and were actually the only ones in a luxury van for the whole day. Our tour guide was an excellent and very knowledgeable tour guide. He's very well versed in English and is a very experienced person. His knowledge of history and archeology of the region is superb. He went into great details about the history of Ephesus and St. Mary's House. He is a very courteous, patient and a friendly warm person. We visited a museum in Ephesus, went by St. John's church, and visited a local ceramic factory where they make nice art of ceramic plates and vases. We had a traditional delicious Turkish-style lunch at a carpet outlet. We were given a good history about Turkish carpets and how they are made. Overall, it was a very enriching, educational and cultural tour that we highly recommend to all tourists visiting Turkey. The money that we paid was minimal compared to the value of the whole tour. Thumbs up Ephesus Tours
